A new bench and tree dedication service will give residents and visitors a meaningful way to remember a loved one or celebrate a special personal milestone.
Launched by Brighton & Hove City Council, the Living Legacy service provides opportunities to create lasting tributes in the city β from remembering a loved one, to marking a birthday, anniversary or achievement, or simply saying thank you to someone special.
As well as providing a personal commemoration, the scheme supports a healthier, greener and more welcoming city for current and future generations.
Welcoming the new scheme, Councillor Alan Robins, Cabinet Member for Sports, Recreation and Libraries, said:

βThis new Living Legacy Service enhances that tradition by giving residents clearer choices, professional personalised guidance and a thoughtful, sustainable way to create lasting tributes.
Benches and tree locations in the city include parks, the seafront and on-street sites. There are also opportunities for people to arrange forΒ suitable tree species to be planted in some woodland areas too.
Dedicated council officers will offer prospective donors a highly personal service, guiding them through every step of the dedication process.
Clear, costed information with illustrated examples of the range of available bench styles and the options for tree species suitable for planting in the city will be provided.Β
Officers can also help with creating and installing personalised plaques for benches, although existing benches and trees can no longer be adopted.Β
The Living Legacy service replaces the councilβs previous bench dedication service.Β
